With societal progress, the activities of Mazu [worship and circuit] pilgrimages have
also evolved. To attract more young people, the organizing temples have designed various
apps that participants can download to check on the routes and times of the [worship and
circuit] pilgrimages. They also have live streaming services, allowing participants to follow
where [the image of] Mazu is going via their mobile phones. In addition, there are many
event-related products, such as clothing and hats, bringing the goddess closer to our lives.
The Baishatun Mazu [Worship] Pilgrimage and the Dajia Mazu [Circuit] Pilgrimage
each have their own unique characteristics, but both are important symbols of Taiwanese
culture. They not only have religious and historical significance; they also promote the local
economy and enhance feelings between people.
