the words or sentences they hear. This will improve their ability to recognize characters.
“II. Let’s Read and Comprehend” A: We would like parents to help their children understand
and read aloud the dialogues in the text. By repeatedly practicing this segment, they will, step by step,
go from relying on the phonetic symbols (Bopomofo) or Pinyin, to being able to do without audio
support, to being able to independently identify traditional characters, so they will get used to reading
them.
“II. Let’s Read and Comprehend” B and C: Please help the student recognize and read aloud
the traditional characters in the text, and then do exercises. This will strengthen their ability to
recognize and read traditional characters.
“II. Let’s Read and Comprehend” D: Please help the student cut extra words from the sentences. This
section is designed to help the student not only recognize traditional characters but also consolidate
their understanding of the structure of the Mandarin so they can use it correctly.
“IV. Phonetic Symbols (Bopomofo) and Pinyin Practice”: Please help the student recognize, read,
and write the phonetic symbols (Bopomofo) or Hanyu Pinyin of the traditional characters in each
lesson. This will improve their ability to read and write Bopomofo or Pinyin.
“III. Let’s read and write, V. Writing”: Please help the student use the stroke order from the textbook
to write the traditional characters given in the book. This will improve their ability to write characters.
