Bicycling has always been a popular leisure activity. Taiwan is particularly well-

known as a “bicycle kingdom,” with world-renowned bicycle companies such as Giant and
Merida. Taiwan may not be large, yet it has a rich and diverse geographical environment.

No matter what type of cyclist you may be, you can find your favorite route in Taiwan.
Taitung’s Guanshan Township Loop Bike Lane was Taiwan’s first bicycle-only path.
Because it is for bicycles only, no cars or motorcycles appear on the road, making it very

safe and quite suitable for family touring. The countryside scenery differs here in spring,
summer, autumn, and winter, so whenever there is a holiday, it attracts many people.
Taichung’s Houfeng Bikeway was originally part of the main route of the Taiwan

Railway Western Main Line and is 5.8 kilometers long. The most famous part of this route
is the Hualiang Steel Bridge spanning the broad Dajia River, which is quite spectacular.
Another popular attraction is the No. 9 Tunnel, which is bright and pleasantly cool inside.

Whether riding over the bridge or through the tunnel, the experience is very special.
Those who are interested in historic sites and natural scenery can opt for the

                 following two routes:

                 North - Tamsui Riverside Bikeway
The entire bike path is alongside the Tamsui River. Not only can you enjoy riding

along the river, but you can also visit nearby cultural sites, such as Dihua Street, the Taipei
Confucius Temple, and the like, as well as check out the Mangrove Nature Reserve. The
Tamsui Mangrove has the world's largest stretch of Kandelia obovata mangrove, which is a

popular place for school field trips.

South - Dual Museum Cycling Path

This route starts from the National Museum of Taiwan History in Tainan. The
front section has famous historical structures such as Fort Zeelandia and Eternal Golden
Castle, while the back section passes by the riverbank and the coast, with a rich ecological

environment. After enjoying the historical and natural attractions, you ultimately arrive at
                 the end point—Chimei Museum.
