Introduction 簡介

The Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning at the Chinese Confucius Temple School was established in the fall semester of 2022. The program included the Pin-yin system, daily conversation and Taiwanese culture.

Students were adults over 18 professional, mainly non-Mandarin speaking overseas Chinese, mainly Cantonese, in the Greater Los Angeles area. In 2023, the enrollment consisted of overseas Chinese and students of other ethnicity, including Italian and third generation Chinese.

In 2023, this program began by using the “Let’s Learn Mandarin” and financial aid provided by the Overseas Community Affairs Council.

本中心初創於2022年秋季班，教授漢語拼音、日常會話及臺灣文化。學生都是非華語 (粵語) 人士，以大洛杉磯地區的華僑為主。2023年初次申請僑委會提供之教材《來！學華語》及開辦經費補助。2023年度除華僑（粵語人士）外亦招收不同族裔（義大利裔及第三代華僑）。

Courses 課程特色

Classes are held at 9am to 12pm on Saturdays with a break session.
9：00—10：30 Pronunciation；"Let’s Learn Mandarin" a lesson per week.
10：40—12：00 Introduction of Taiwanese Culture（Brief History of Taiwan, religions, Native Taiwanese, movies, dance, calligraphy, pop music etc.）

每週六上午9—12 時，分兩部份時段
9：00—10：30 發音練習；來！學華語每週一課
10：40—12：00 臺灣文化介紹（臺灣簡史、著名宗教活動、原住民族服飾、名勝名產、茶文化、節慶飲食、電影導演侯孝賢、雲門舞集、董陽孜書法、流行音樂作者：李宗盛、伍佰、羅大佑）。臺灣文化課程多以影片和歌唱輔助例如鹿港小鎮、浪人情歌、凡人歌等。文化課程相當受學生歡迎與期待。
