Introduction 簡介

NCCS was founded in 1979. We are the oldest Mandarin Chinese School in San Diego, providing classes from Pre-K and K-12 grades, and also to adults. Our mission is to educate Mandarin native speakers and those learning Mandarin as a second language through the language and cultural activities with the best program designs available. We have succeeded in promoting and supporting Mandarin to be included in the mainstream education system.

In November of 2022, the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) of Taiwan approved the establishment of the San Diego Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning (SD-TCML) to promote Mandarin teaching and learning in San Diego. The opening ceremony of the TCML is scheduled to be held at the end of June 2023.

北郡中文學校從1979年，由十數個家庭在車庫開班授課以來，已逾四十年。當年家長們自任教學和行政工作，目前家長們所擔任的義工仍舊是我們學校的主力。為孩子們提供學習華文和認識臺灣文化的環境，正是我們存在和努力的目標。

2022年11月，經中華民國僑務委員會審核評鑑成立臺灣華語文學習中心-聖地牙哥北郡中文學校，開設成人班，教授母語非華語的成人學習華語文，並於2023年6月下旬舉行揭牌儀式。
 

Courses 課程特色

The TCML offers classes to adults (18 years and over). Textbooks used in the program are “Let’s Learn Mandarin”, “Speak Mandarin in 500 Words”, and “Speak Mandarin in 1000 Words”, published by the OCAC of Taiwan, and accompanied with “theme based” topics. The course curriculum includes daily life conversations, traditional culture, customs, festivals … etc. So, students are not just learning language, but also understanding culture.

Each session lasts over a period of 9-12 weeks, and meets 3 to 4 hours per week.

本中心課程以中華民國僑務委員會編印之《來！學華語》、《五百字說華語》及《一千字說華語》教材，配合主題式教學，並適時介紹傳統節慶及文化，並邀請社區主流人士參與並體驗優質的臺灣文化及節慶，讓學生不但學習語言也能了解傳統文化。

一期上課週數9-12 週, 每週上課3-4小時。
