Introduction 簡介
The Tzu Chi Academy Miami was established in 2013, previously known as the Miami Tzu Chi Humanities Class. It is a member of the non-profit Tzu Chi Academy School system in the United States and has been promoting Mandarin teaching, etiquette, humanities, and cultural heritage for both Chinese and non-Chinese children in the community for many years. The school has eight classes, mainly enrolling students aged 5 to 18, with classes held on Saturday afternoons.
In order to meet the growing demand for Mandarin learning population in recent years, Tzu Chi Academy Miami established the Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning (TCML) in 2023. The TCML provides practical and systematic Mandarin learning and Taiwanese cultural learning experiences for adults aged 18 and above.
邁阿密慈濟人文學校成立於2013年，它的前身為邁阿密慈濟人文班。是非營利組織的全美慈濟人文學校系統中的一員，多年來在社區針對華人及非華人的子弟推廣華語文教學禮儀人文及文化的傳承。目前學校設有八個班級，招生對象以5至18歲的學生為主，週六下午上課。
近年來學習華語文人數日益增長，為了滿足此一需求，邁阿密慈濟人文學校於2023年成立了臺灣華語文學習中心，旨在為18歲或以上的成人提供實用而且有系統的華文和臺灣文化的學習體驗。
Courses 課程特色
The Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning-Tzu Chi Academy in Miami holds courses over the period from August to May every year. Courses are divided into two semesters, with each semester consisting of 12 weeks and three hours of class are held per week; contents of the classes include language and culture lessons.
The course design is learner-centered and adopts a theme-based teaching approach, allowing students to simulate language learning in real-life situations. Taiwanese customs and cultures are also integrated into the curriculum through various activities and traditional festivals. Traditional characters are taught in class,, and the main textbook used is "Let’s Learn Mandarin" published by the Taiwan Overseas Community Affairs Council, with other materials such as "Speak Mandarin in Five Hundred Words" and "Speak Mandarin in One Thousand Words" and various online resources used as supplementary materials.
臺灣華語文學習中心-邁阿密慈濟人文學校上課時間為每年八月至次年五月，分為兩個學期，每學期12週，每週上課三小時，包括語文課及文化課。
課程設計是以學習者為中心，採用主題式教學，讓學生在真實情境中模擬語言學習。臺灣習俗和文化也將透過各種活動和傳統節日融入課程。課堂上教授傳統的正體字，教材是以臺灣僑委會出版的《來！學華語》為主，《五百字說華語》和《一千字說華語》等各類教材及線上資源為輔。
