Introduction 簡介

Taiwan Center of Mandarin Learning (TCML) is a program established with the assistance of US and Taiwan governments. The U.S. -Taiwan Education Initiative was activated by the U.S. and Taiwan on December 2, 2020. Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) of Taiwan then established this TCML network with American Institute in Taiwan (AIT *) to enhance bilateral language cooperation. So far, there have been 43 TCMLs established, 34 in the U.S., 9 in Europe.

The TCML program offers language learners of 18 years and older a gateway through which to learn Mandarin and Taiwanese culture. Through the program, the students also have the opportunity to receive future support that OCAC offers, including language and culture exchange with Taiwanese people.

Based on the Chinese School (nnjcacs.org) founded in 1981 in Montville area, the Northern New Jersey Chinese Association (NNJCA) has excellent resources in teaching Mandarin. We obtained approval from OCAC in December 2021 to set up a TCML in the northern New Jersey area.

臺灣華語文學習中心（TCML）是由美國和中華民國政府協輔建立和資助的專案，雙方於2020年12月2日啟動《美臺教育倡議》後，中華民國僑務委員會（OCAC）與美國在臺協會（AIT）等機構合作促成TCML教育網，以加強雙邊語言合作，目前已成立43個中心，其中美國34個，歐洲9個。

TCML課程為18歲及以上的語言學習者提供學習普通話和臺灣文化的機會。透過該專案，學生也有機會獲得僑委會提供的補助，包括與臺灣的語言和文化交流。

新州北部美華聯誼會（NNJCA）以1981年在蒙特維爾地區成立的中文學校（nnjcacs.org）為基礎，擁有優秀的漢語教學資源。我們於2021年12月獲得僑委會核准，在新澤西州北部地區設立學習中心。 2022 年秋季課程（網路教學與實體教學）現已開放註冊，意者可以在我們的網站（nnjca.org/nnjca-tcml）註冊。

Courses 課程特色

Our daily Mandarin lesson plan includes conversations for restaurant, supermarket, and travel. We hope to benefit local residents interested in learning Mandarin.

The textbook we are using is “Let’s Learn Mandarin” published by OCAC, supplemented with conversation and pinyin materials written by our teaching staff.

Our 2022 Spring class started on March 1st, 2022. The fall classes (on-line and/or in-person) are now open for registration.

We use Kahoot! Live game to review class materials, MyCT app to improve speaking ability, and myviewboard to serve as online whiteboard tool.
