Introduction 簡介
Founded in 1980, the Chinese School of CAACF has provided over four decades of community and cultural enrichment. The school had traditionally focused on teaching Mandarin and Taiwanese culture to children ranging from preschool to high school. But now, a new era has begun. Spurred by interest from the local community, the Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning was launched in the Chinese School of CAACF. The center offers Mandarin classes aimed at adults and first-time learners. The classes are designed for students of all aptitudes who are interested in learning Mandarin in an environment more in line with America’s ideals of freedom and democracy. Since its initial opening in February of 2022, the program has acquired 30 new students and is actively recruiting more. The center hopes to act as a platform in the Orlando area to preserve and promote the beauty of the Mandarin and the wealth of Taiwanese culture.
中佛州中華學校於1980年創校，隸屬中佛州中美協會，四十多年來致力教授華語與傳播中華文化，栽培校友無數，為臺灣與當地主流社會的橋樑。2022年「臺灣華語文學習中心」成立後，增設各程度成人華語班以因應佛州日增的華語學習人口。中心擁有健全華語師資陣容，擅以中西合壁的自由活潑教學方式與多元活動設計引導學生學習，讓學生瞭解正體字悠久演變與臺灣文化之豐富多樣。中心期許繼續保存及推廣華語文化，使臺灣文化於中佛州茁壯繁榮。
Courses 課程特色
The Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning at the Chinese School of CAACF offers a full program for adults over the age of 18 who wish to learn Mandarin, from beginner to advanced levels. In conjunction with digital materials, the center also adopts textbooks provided by OCAC, such as “Let’s Learn Mandarin”, “Speak Mandarin in Five Hundred Words”, and “Speak Mandarin in One Thousand Words.” Instructors at the center have all received professional training and used the pinyin system to teach listening, speaking, reading, and writing, with focus on building students’ conversational skills.
In addition to teaching Mandarin, the Center also serves to advance traditional culture by offering courses such as Mandarin songs, traditional chess, calligraphy, folk dance, cooking, Mandarin conversation, traditional yo-yo, and kung-fu.
中佛州中華學校臺灣華語文學習中心招收18歲以上有意願學習華語者，課程分級從入門班至進階班，教材使用僑委會提供之新編雙語教材－《來！學華語》、《五百字說華語》與《一千字說華語》。華語教師皆受過專業訓練且持續進修，課程將帶領學生運用拼音學習聽說讀寫，並加強聽說會話部分。華語課後另有額外文化班課程，涵蓋中文歌曲教唱、象棋、書法、民俗舞蹈、會話課、烹飪、扯鈴、功夫等，除了語言之外學生亦有機會接觸文化與歷史。

The Center is located in Lake Highland Prep School near downtown Orlando. Parking is available.
