Introduction 簡介

The Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning－Jersey Shore Chinese School (JSCS-TCML) is established under The Jersey Shore Chinese School (JSCS) organization, which is a nonprofit organization founded in 1979. JSCS is located in Holmdel, New Jersey, and is close to the towns near the Jersey Shore. Our school has provided local residents with more than 40 years of Mandarin education and has nearly 20 language teachers and 15 culture teachers. In addition to language classes, our school provides students with various cultural classes, including folk dance, lion dance, dragon dance, Tai Chi, chess, traditional painting, calligraphy, arts & crafts, traditional yo-yo, Ping-pong, multimedia art, fun sports, and self-defense. Over the years, JSCS has organized many activities, including the Lunar New Year Gala, New Jersey Teacher Day Celebration Ceremony, New Jersey Double Ten National Day Flag Raising Ceremony, Monmouth County Summer Camp, Painting Competition, Speech Competition, Dictionary Competition, and Typing Competition and Word Recognition Contest.

臺灣華語文學習中心-新海中文學校將設於現有的新海中文學校組織體制下。新海中文學校是一所非營利教育機構，創校於1979年。本校位於新澤西含德市，並靠近新澤西海岸附近城鎮，故因此為名。本校為當地居民提供超過40年華語文教育。新海中校共有近20位語言班教師，及15位文化課教師。除了語文課，本校更為學生提供豐富的文化課，包括民族舞蹈、舞獅、舞龍、太極拳、象棋、國畫、書法、民俗工藝、扯鈴、乒乓球、多媒體藝術、趣味體育課及防身術。多年來本校積極舉辦各種活動，包括農曆新年晚會，新澤西教師節敬師典禮，新澤西雙十國慶升旗典禮、孟郡夏令營、校內繪畫比賽、漢字文化節演講比賽、查字典比賽、打字比賽和認字比賽。

Courses 課程特色

The Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning- Jersey Shore Chinese School (JSCS-TCML) holds classes every Saturday from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, three hours per week, from September to June. Each academic year consists of two semesters of 15 weeks in length, so the entire academic year is 30 weeks in total. The first and second classes of the day are language classes, and the third is a cultural class. Traditional Mandarin is taught in the language class, and the textbook, "Let’s Learn Mandarin", is provided by the OCAC, Taiwan. Cultural classes include adult TaiChi, adult calligraphy, and adult comprehensive cultural classes. The adult comprehensive cultural class provides Taiwanese cultural activities, such as traditional arts & crafts, and traditional festivals. The adult students can join school competitions and activities, such as speech contests, karaoke contests, Lunar New Year performances, and so on. They will also use resources outside the classroom for off-campus learning, such as practicing ordering and tasting food in Taiwanese restaurants, visiting Asian supermarkets, New York Chinatown and Flushing, and participating in Passport to Taiwan, Double Ten National Day, and other activities.

新海中文學校臺灣華語文學習中心課程時間為每年九月至六月的每星期六上午九點半至十二點半，每週三小時。每學年含兩學期，一學期為15週，一學年共三十週，九十小時。第一、二堂課是語言課，第三堂是文化課。語言課為正體華語文，將使用僑委會提供的海外成人學習華語文教材“來!學華語”。文化課可選擇成人太極拳、成人書法和成人綜合文化課。成人綜合文化課將提供臺灣特色的文化教學，以利學習華語文，並教授臺灣文化特色，例如傳統民俗技藝，傳統節日，藝術等。讓學生將其所學發揮於學校主辦的比賽和活動，例如：演講比賽、卡拉OK比賽、農曆新年表演及華測等等，亦會利用課堂以外的資源進行校外教學，例如臺菜餐廳練習點菜並品嚐美食、參觀亞洲超市、紐約中國城、法拉盛、參加PassporttoTaiwan、雙十國慶等活動。

Jersey Shore Chinese School Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning is located in Holmdel William R. Satz School at the exit of NJ Garden State Parkway. JSCS-TCML provides Mandarin and cultural learning courses for residents of Monmouth County in New Jersey.
