Introduction 簡介

Modesto Chinese School was founded in 1992. It closed in 2008 owing to insufficient student numbers and funds and was reopened in 2015. Due to the decreasing number of Taiwanese immigrants, 80% of the current students are mainly from mainstream American families, and the school adopted a standard Mandarin as a Second Language (CSL) Teaching Model. Modesto Chinese School originally catered mostly to K-12 students, but there is now a need for classes designed mainly for adults. Hence, Modesto Chinese School decided to partner with Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning to establish a center at Modesto Junior College to provide this unique opportunity for its students and members of the community.

斯郡牡丹中文學校創立於1992年，屬非營利組織，於2008年因學生人數不足、經費不足而關閉，2015年重新開啟。因臺僑移民人數遞減，所以學生80%以主流家庭為主，是典型的CSL教學模式，由於牡丹中文學校主要為K-12年級，需要為成人開設課程。因此，與Modesto Junior College合作建立臺灣華語文學校中心，為主流社區提供這個獨特的機會，開課消息宣傳後，受到熱烈迴響，名額很快額滿，期許每位學員皆能透過學習華語瞭解中華文化與臺灣多元歷史與優美文化的特色受到。期許每位學員皆能透過學習華語瞭解中華文化與臺灣多元歷史與優美文化的特色。

Courses 課程特色

The course consists of an integrated curriculum (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) and utilizes communicative approaches toward language learning, focusing on real-world situations and class interaction.

In this course, you will learn how to effectively communicate using Mandarin and explore the wide variety of traditional culture. Classes are held twice a week for 12 weeks, in the evenings on Zoom.

First Term: On-line

Second Term: Modesto Junior College

B. Schedule:

First Term: 2022.03.07~05.26, Mon and Tue 19:00~20:30

Second Term: 2022.09

今年將開辦2期，每週上課2次，持續12週，課程為初級華語班，由綜合主題（聽、說、讀、寫）組成，並利用溝通交流方法進行語言學習，關注生活現況和課堂互動，學習如何與人交流並探索中華文化的多樣性。

一、教學地點：第1期採線上授課；第2期目前規劃為實體課程，上課地點為Modesto Junior College，將視疫情調整。

二、上課時間：

第2期（線上授課）：2022.03.07~05.26，12週，週一、週四，下午7:00~8:30

第2期（實體課程）：預計2022年9月開課
