Introduction 簡介
The Northern Virginia Experimental Chinese School is located in northwestern Virginia. Most students come from Fairfax and Loudoun counties. There are many high-tech companies in the area. Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning classes started on 9/19. In terms of curriculum design, the school adopts a “fun teaching method” such as learning to count numbers while playing cards, interpreting Mandarin with traditional puppet shows, and combining Mandarin with daily life usage. There are currently 15 students and 1 teacher and 1 assistant. Classes always have a joyful atmosphere.
北維州實驗中文學校地處維吉尼亞州的西北方，學生來自Fairfax及Loudoun鄰近區域，該區新公司林立，不乏高科技新貴之商業/住宅區，學生大都屬於臺灣來的新一代移民之子女。北維州實驗中文學校附設的臺灣華語文學習中心於9月19日開課，老師採趣味性教學方式，用樸克牌來數數字，用布袋戲偶來詮釋中文，把華語文與生活相結合，以激發學習興趣。目前學生15人，老師及助教2人，課程歡樂氣氛濃厚，師生相處和諧融洽。
Courses 課程特色
This beginning course provide a basic introduction to Mandarin and Taiwanese culture. Designed for learners with little or no previous exposure to the target language, the course will go over major characteristics of the language, such as the tones, and the writing system. It will also help develop learners’ senses of the basic structural forms. Multiple topics in real life will be introduced in the course. Starting from their immediate environment, learners will learn to use the target language to describe themselves and their family in the culturally-appropriate contexts. They will use common expressions and polite greetings to exchange basic information, such as name, residence, family members, activities, vacation, and holidays, etc. Learners will have frequent teacher and peer interactions throughout the 12-class session. This course provides learners substantial opportunities for Mandarin speaking. Besides textbook resources, multiple technology tools will be utilized during and after class to help facilitate target language use. Learners will practice constantly by talking to each other. Classes will be a highly interactive and engaging.
課程主要是針對無華語學習經驗和初級成人學習者所設計的，為學生提供華語文及對臺灣文化的基本認識，並以實際生活情境為主題授課，使學生能將所學活用於日常生活中。一期共12堂課，提供學生大量口頭語言互動機會。除了課本資源外，課中及課後將使用多種線上輔助學習工具來幫助練習華語文。
