Introduction 簡介
The Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning－Murray Hill Chinese School is established under the Murray Hill Chinese School (MHCS) organization. MHCS was founded in February, 1983, and it is one of the largest volunteer-operated schools in New Jersey. Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning－Murray Hill Chinese School (MHCS TCML) was founded in July 2021. Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning (TCML) is a global program with a regionally-focused curriculum. The school meets every Saturday at Watchung Hills Regional High School. MHCS now offers 12 Traditional Language classes (pre-K to 10th grade), 10 children´s bilingual classes (Pre-K to 8th grade), and adult classes. The school also offers a variety of cultural classes for all ages. MHCS is one of the member schools under Chinese American Cultural Association, Association of New Jersey Chinese Schools, Association of Chinese Schools, and National Council of Associations of Chinese Language Schools. The mission of MHCS is to promote cultural exchanges between Taiwan and the United States, enhance appreciation of literature and art, and extend into the mainstream community.
臺灣華語文學習中心-梅山中文學校設在現有的梅山中文學校組織體制下。梅山中文學校成立於 1983 年 2 月，是新澤西州最大的非營利義工經營中文學校之一。梅山中文學校臺灣華語文學習中心成立於 2021年7月。學校在華強高中校舍上課。目前學校計有語文班，包含傳統班（由幼兒班至十年級）、雙語班（由幼兒班至八年級）和成人班、文化班、及成人文化班。學生人數約 150 人。梅山中文學校是中美文化協會、新澤西中文學校協會、美東中文學校協會及全美中文學校聯合總會的會員學校之一。梅山中文學校的職志是促進文化交流，並藉由舉辦活動，推廣欣賞文藝及社區互動。
Courses 課程特色
At the Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning－Murray Hill Chinese School, we are not only devoted to teaching Mandarin to the students but also to teaching them culture. We strive to impart to the students certain values in culture, education, and other aspects of society. Our curriculum is designed to incorporate fun into learning, and provide an environment in which students can present and project what they have learned during a variety of enrichment events. We focus on teaching the students real-life conversation and utilize resources outside of the classroom (e.g., Taiwanese restaurants, Asian supermarkets, museums, Culture Center of TECO). The “Huayuworld.org” and the teaching materials/textbook published by OCAC (e.g. “I can speak Chinese”, “Speak Mandarin in 500 Words”, “Speak Mandarin in 1000 Words”, “Let’s Learn Mandarin”) are also our resources for this program. Students learn traditional characters, traditional Taiwanese folk culture, calligraphy, and festival arts. The students of the center also participate in school-sponsored activities and academic assessments (e.g. TOCFL).
梅山中文學校臺灣華語文學習中心講授華語文及文化課程，將採取實體會面授課方式，強調實用會話交流，利用課堂以外的資源 （例如臺灣餐廳、亞洲超市、博物館、文教中心等等）， 和全球華文網現有的資源及僑委會編制的教材《我會説華語1》、《五百字說華語》、《一千字說華語》、及僑委會現有編製二語成人教材《來！學華語1》。課程將以臺灣教材對學生教授正體中文字、以及具備臺灣文化的傳統民俗技藝、童玩、書法、傳統節日藝術等等。中心學生會一起參加學校主辦的活動及學測評鑑（例如華語文能力測驗）。
