Introduction 簡介

Goodnews Mandarin Academy (GMA) is an institute established by Austin Taiwanese Presbyterian Church (ATPC) in 2014 for promoting the Mandarin language mission and initiation of the Christian faith. In order to support the Taiwanese government’s policy of “Enhancing the promotion of Mandarin teaching in the United States and Europe”, GMA established the Taiwan Center for Mandarin Learning (TCML) in 2023. We offer classes in Mandarin language with traditional characters and Taiwanese cultural experiences. We serve the Austin communities by providing adults (age 18 and above) with an authentic environment in learning Mandarin and experiencing Taiwan culture locally.

好消息華語學苑 (Goodnews Mandarin Academy 簡稱 GMA) 是奧斯汀臺灣基督長老教會 (Austin Taiwanese Presbyterian Church 簡稱 ATPC) 為推行華語文事工及傳播福音，由志工們以教會設施於 2014年所成立的機構。為呼應及支持臺灣政府「加強向美國及歐洲地區主流人士推廣具臺灣特色的正體華語文教學」的政策，於2023年成立臺灣華語文學習中心(TCML)，為奧斯汀地區的成年人 (18 歲以上)提供正體華語文教學，以及體驗臺灣文化的課程。

Courses 課程特色

The courses and curriculums are based on “Let’s Learn Mandarin”. Students learn traditional characters with Hanyu Pinyin supplemented by cultural activities, so that they can use Mandarin they have learned in their daily lives. Practical exercises and group activities are designed specifically for students of this class. We focus on practicality and functionality based on daily needs to achieve a balanced development in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills, as well as to cultivate cognition and understanding of the Taiwanese culture.

課程以《來！學華語》為主軸，學生學習正體字華語文及漢語拼音，輔以文化活動，進而讓學生能將所學的華語運用於生活。在課堂上進行為本班特別設計的實務練習及團體活動，以成人基本日常生活會使用的華語文為基礎，著重實用性和功能性，達到聽、說、讀、寫之平衡發展，並培養對臺灣文化的認知與了解。
